Inktober #28 - Drift

Yeah, our spiritual samurai bot is doing some Kabuki dance moves! Because why not? His face paint reminds me of Kabuki makeup, and him being all Japan inspired, and everything so I say YES!


I just can't quite grasp his design yet. The only image I found of him from behind is the very first pages in mtmte of him and Ratchet doing a come-back and... he's doing a backflip! Was fun to rotate the image 180 degrees to see it properly and understand what the red 'wings' were on his back.

I accidentally watched a whole episode about Kabuki on youtube too while I was doing my research and trying to find a nice reference pose. Even then I failed to fit him properly on the paper, twice. The pose he's in now is the third one, and still not what I intended originally. Today was one of those "omfg hand, eyes, brain, plz cooperate!" because I had to correct so much stuff in this. Angles, proportions, design errors that I just messed up completely and noticed later, luckily before inking, and what not. Luckily I had and still have chocolate! *omnom*
