A bit of torture.. he survived when other pirate group pulled him under the ship while tied to ropes, survived the whip, and the luckiest.. survived the hanging because of a too old, half broken rope, and dropped to wast deep sea where he was meant to drop anyways. For all he was able to do in panic, trying not to sink into the water, was to grab the nearest floating piece he could get. He saw an island far far away and after all that strugling for his life he managed to get to the shore. When Jack felt the stable ground under his feet, he collapsed from the exhaustion.
