I'll restart art trades when I've gotten back the current ones, when ever that'll happen, I don't know.
If YOU did them, I'd ask, cause I had this dream of (TFPrime) Optimus looking for an empty room in a church, the rest of which I'm not getting into in public (although I'll admit, its your fault with that pic of him with his ass up in the air...).
Yea, long decade and only like... uhm, not that many Kiribans announced, since I'm a one lazy ass! I draw when I feel like it, was it something on my own, an art trade or even a commission. I can't work without a motivation or inspiration, I've learned it the hard way. And no, commissions are not an incentive for me to keep drawing, depending on what people want, it can be quite the opposite. That's why I gave up commissions on one forum I used. I decided enough was enough, money or not!
Artists do have weird ways of making people like something they haven't liked before!
I've found it hard to create interesting enough characters for me to bother with them more than initial looks or little bit of personality. Thus I like doing fan art as it gives me more challenge to keep characters as they are and people know how they look, so them being recognizable is important as well.
I'm the opposite side of the coin. Imagine Prowl with vagina - I love my rules and regs. Give me a rule book, and I can interpret them and enforce them better than the writers. I can't draw, can't visualize, and writing ISN'T a talent, though I enjoy doing it. So I took to recreating fandoms like the TF universe, and putting their fans IN them, without making them Mary Sues - instead capturing exactly WHO they actually ARE, and making those stories WORK.
I guess that "if I told" is part of Optimus being in a cathedral? Muah muah
Writing is a talent. It requires imagination, it requires good articulation to make the scenes work with the message you want to bring out, and the skill to actually describe situation exactly how you want it, or the choices of what to leave out for the reader to figure it out themselves. Not to forget convincing dialogs between characters and how it's written without repeating oneself too much, including an interesting and working plot. Yes, writing is a talent same way as art is.
It's not the tool we use to create things, it's how we create them with those tools we have. I create a picture that tells a story, you write a story that creates a picture.
In most cases, I skip stories that are a mixture of canon and fan characters (no matter what or who those are). It's either canon, or fan/original characters separated. But, in those most cases I read summary or description which is 99% of the time "canon X OC" and I just ignore those. I have tried to give chances to so many fics with FCs/OCs and each are as crappy as the previous one. I am not interested of reading someone's fantasies with a fictional character. I want the fantasies within the fictional characters. Does that make any sense?
And how in the world "Kiriban" topic went into this kind of talk? Haha.
